I have a Hp Pavilion n5390... I would like to add power management support to it.. I selected all APMD support in menuconfig & recompiled the kernel but yet the Laptop Power management icon says not available. How & where did you enable yours ? tia Dre On Sat, 2003-01-11 at 06:58, Marino Fernandez wrote:
When I installed SuSE 8.1 on my laptop (Fujitsu Lifebook C 7651) the little icon for the battery on the system tray was disabled stating that I had a partial ACPI install and that I needed to enable at least 2 modules (I do not remember which ones).
To enabled it I added acpi=off apm=on and now it works; so far everything works well, the fan works, I can suspend the computer... but:
A) What is the difference between ACPI and APM. Should I try to enable ACPI instad of APM?
B) Although suspend works, standby does not... if I try to put my laptop on standby, it goes into it for 2-3 seconds, then the HD spins and wakes up my machine (the HD always spins every 2-3 secs... even under windows, even if I just turn on the computer and do nothing, with no apps on, every 2 secs I hear some little noise from it and the lcd screen on my laptop indicates some HD activity)... In other words standby does not put my HD to sleep.
Any help to solve this enigma will be appreciated.
