Didn't get any answers to this one, and since I had hoped I wouldn't have to go back to 8.0, I try again... ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Hello all! I'm trying to install SuSE 8.1 from scratch on a Siemens Primergy 400. I've had SuSE 7.0, 7.1 and 8.0 on the same server earlier, and have _never_ encountered any problems. Now, when I try a fresh install from CD, I get into a weird problem after the first reboot (when the installation has loaded the software from CD1), even if I just accept all the default settings that Yast2 suggests. During boot, the following messages appear: Loading module reiserfs ... Using /lib/modules/2.4.19-64GB-SMP/kernel/fs/reiserfs/reiserfs.o Root-NFS: No NFS server available, giving up. VFS: Unable to mount root fs via NFS, trying floppy. VFS: Insert root floppy and press ENTER I have no intention of using root nfs, but I guess the reason it tries to do so anyway is because it can't access /dev/rd/c0d0p3 (which is /). The system's got a Mylex DAC960 raid controller, and I'm reusing the partitions from my "old" 8.0 installation. The only other error message during boot is: kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k scsi_hostadapter, errno = 2 All other messages seem to be normal. It loads the md driver and the DAC960 module. It can see the Seagate disk, /dev/rd/c0d0 (RAID-1) and the partitions c0d0p1, c0d0p2 og c0d0p3. The same error occurs regardless of which filesystem I use on the three partitions. I have found one other person with the same problem, but no solution: http://spotlight.de/zforen/lia/m/lia-1036090651-17945.html Does anyone know why this happens, and what I can do to solve this? I can provide more info if necessary. Many thanks in advance!! -- ---J.T.U.
