My company runs an SMB server for file and print sharing which I am supposed to be a user of.
My workstation : SL 8.0 stable. Setup : SMB print server IP = 10.3.0.42 Has prints queues : 3flr_4000n, 3flr_8000n and so on.
Using yast2, I am unable to connect to this printer. I start up the yast, and configure printer, and network printer, and samba printer.. and then I specify the server name [the IP address], the username and password also.
Printer HP Laserjet 8000 n is also configured pretty decently.
But when I print, I get nothing. Just nothing... I am using LPD as the printing daemon. Tried cups, but that did not work too.
Anyone has a similar setup? Any problems? Experiences to help me?
I must admit I have not yet invested 4 hours looking into this problem.

Hello I noticed the same problem - that why I print from workstation directly to CUPS printer at the server, not SMB printer. Strange but true, Win-clients print wine to SMB printers at the server, though. I have setup Suse 7.3 as server, sunning Samba 2.2.3a and CUPS 1.1.10-94, WorkStation is currently Suse 8.1, but worked fine with 8.0, too. Hope this helps. -- --Jyry C:-( C:-/ C========8-O C8-/ C:-(
