Support for bonding network cards is compiled into the stock SuSE-kernel and if you compile your own then there is an option for it as well. The only additional software needed comes with the linux-kernel sources. Have a look at linux/Documentation/networking/bonding.txt In the same directory you'll find the source "ifenslave.c" which is needed as well. I've tried this on a machine a couple of weeks ago and it worked well, NFS performance actually doubled Hope your switch supports bonding.
