If you don't mind, I would disagree with part of your statement. I have a DVD player and a CD-RW,and my SuSE 8.0 was able to recognize and configure both of them with no extra help from me. Linux and SuSE can easily handle more than one CDRom
This is true , my 8.0 and 8.1 configure them w/ no problems ... but the konqui thing still doesnt' happen. Which is okay , it just takes a few minutes llonger to set it up. Also I have an all scsi box, w/ the exception of my cdburner.. So that made thigs a little hairyer to setup on 7.3 , but fortunately one of the list gods helped me sort out /nods to CKM Extreemly knowledgable and helpful ... so long as one doesn't mind the shell <VBG> Speaking of the shell , isn't it lovely the way one can always recall previously typed lines! W/ my typing it truely is a marvel to see. And editing a mistyped line is much easier than starting over. ps: if this message smells of cinnamon , pls excuse: for soem reason it sticks to the fingers even when they are washed w/ soap and hot water. Not always a bad thing tho <G> -- j afterthought: An ulcer is what you get mountain-climbing over molehills
