Hi.
I'm running here the SuSE linux 8.1.
Due to a reason I cannot remember, I have changed the cdrecorder to be my DVD drive, and my cdrom drive to be my cd-rw drive.
It works. I can burn cd's, and I can access data cd's in the DVD drive.
The only thing I cannot do is play audio cd's.
There's read or access errors, or maybe permissions to /DEV/CDROM.
I think in my case its the /DEV/CDROM, and that audio cd's will not play, as my DVD that should have been my CDROM in fact IS called my CDRECORDER.
How can I fix that problem ?.
My SuSE installation has a similar problem. Are you trying to mount an Audio CD ny clicking on the CD- or -DVD-ROM icons on the desktop? Dialog boxes with error messages come up if this is attempted. KCD does not work either. What does work is "XMMS" which on the start menu. (Start->Multimedia->Sound->Xmms) Once this application is started, click on the eject button, type the mount point (/media/cdrecorder for example), press close even if no files are visible. Wait a few seconds and press play. The CD's spring into life and start playing. If the cd-rw drive is mounted as cdrecorder, point Xmms to /media/cdrecorder and not /media/cdrom.
