Yes, I agree that some software is hard to compile..but the original
poster was talking about a tar.gz file of "precompiled" binary's. One
would just uncompress them in the directory that one wants them
installed. No compiling is needed. :)
But I agree...in 8-10 cases pkgs are most like better then tarballs
because your average Joe/Jane User can get themselves so flustered that
even the simple tasks become huge problems.
