James Ogley:
The hardware I am using is an HP 3 port JetDirect 500X configured as 192.168.1.33 with three ports (9000 - 9002). On port 1 (9000) I have an Epson 5700 Laser and on port 2 (9001) I have an Epson Stylus Colour 600.

James C. Rocks So, you want the easy way:
From their website: ESP shall provide to LICENSEE the complete and modified source code for
1. install cups
2. start cups server, 3 choices
/sbin/cupsd

/sbin/cupsd-pam
3. open browser, http://127.0.0.1:631/
4. Administration >> enter root and root password
5. Add printer >> first requested info in Name - only important one on
this screen to distinguish the 3 printers on the hub, other 2 are just
text
6. Next screen--Device=AppSocket/HP JetDirect
7. Next --Device URI: socket://192.168.1.33:9100 (1st printer)
8. Next screen--Make: Epson
9. Next screet--Model/Driver (I only have HP so I cannot help you
here--go to web and find good ppd files if you are not happy with ones
loaded with CUPS (/usr/share/cups/model/en(maybe) or printer maker--size
of driver source is sometimes an indicator as to how well features are
handled).
10. Next screen--"Printer xxxxx has been successfully added.
11. Click on printer name.
12. Click Print Test Page--Voila!!!!
I have added dozens of network printers in this manner; if you are at
home, this should be enough. If commercial you can spend a few bucks
and get easy print pro with polished drivers and easy graphical
administration.
the Common UNIX Printing System on CD-ROM for a nominal media fee of $50
US or via the Internet at no charge at http:// www.cups.org.
