Before I crashed the drive I was looking into the permissions for
cdrecord. It seems that xcdroast and koncd all need cdrecord as the kep
app. They seem to be front ends. I was able to get the data back and
rebuild the partitions with dd but even the Linux instructor could not
get koncd or xcdroast working on his machine. it may be a flaw in
ide-scsi.
do you have a multiple boot setup? I am thinking that SUSE 8.0 cant get
along with DOS anymore. If the flaw isnt fixed Ill need a multiple drive
computer to handle the problem.

Has anyone here got the xcdroast non-root mode working with the xcdroast=20 that is included in SuSE Linux 8.1? I have tried to activate non-root mod= e=20 several times now, but I still cannot start xcdroast as a regular user.
