Dear all!
Since today i experience strange troubles with my (kernel) NFS server. it runs on SuSE 8.1, as well as all other clients. Everything was fine, untill today.
Oh, I've been there so many times!
and when i try to mount an nfs volume, i get the following:
root@saturn:~# mount 192.168.120.14:/home/software /home/software mount: 192.168.120.14:/home/software failed, reason given by server: Permission denied>
and the following entry in the messages on the server:
Dec 11 20:27:46 cmpd2 rpc.mountd: refused mount request from saturn for /home/software (/): no export entry
here are my /etc/exports on server: /home/software 192.168.120.*(rw,async,no_root_squash)
Are you ABSOLUTELY certain there is no extraneous whitespace in your exports file? I had major issues because YaST (for no adequately explained reason) inserted a space at the beginning of each entry!) Obviously, it must have the final 'extra' blank line... (btw, why is this?) <SNIP> The files in /var/lib/nfs can get muddled somehow - and I can't remember which is for what. Basically, the nfs doesn't like the same client mounting a share twice; but doesn't reliably record unmounts - especially if it isn't umounted 'properly' HTH Dylan -- "Sweet moderation Heart of this nation Desert us not, we are Between the wars"
