For the time being, just edit /etc/wgetrc. Search for the line #passive_ftp = off , remove the hash sign in front and change the 'off' to 'on'.
Does this help? Nik
FWIW: I've so far only put 8.1 on one machine. It suffered from non-YOU-ability in extremis. So I tried a couple different things I've seen on this list. (Including starting to suspect my firewall ;) I forget the exact sequence of what I did, but in the end I saw the above mentioned advice. Went to edit /etc/wgetrc - only to discover it wasn't on the system. This led me to check which wget rpm was installed... and it wasn't... Now I don't know if this can be attributed to the fact that I initially chose a 'minimal' install... (?) But in any case, I thought I should mention it, for the record... Once wget was installed (by way of nfs-exported dvd from a different machine) everything worked very nicely... :) Oh yeah, this was clean install, not an up{grade|date}. HTH Jon Clausen
