Thanks for replying. Tonight (at home) I´ll check your tips. My modem is a Pctel one. It's onboard, on my pcchips mobo. I make a install with a driver for linux from Pctel. Being the case of reinstalling the modem, should I uninstall it first? I already make a connection as "root" before, but never as user "adagilson". This problem was posted some time ago and have some tips from suse-linux-listers" to follow, but I don't whether it'll work or not. This night I'll try everything. You were very clear to me, thanks again a. Paul T. (nevada) escreveu
These respond's usually mean that you have not selected the correct location of your modem in kppp setup. Did you setup the modem with Yast? What location did Yast assign it? If you are not using /dev/??, then /dev/modem must point to the actual dev/?? the modem is located.
You can try each of the locations in kppp and check if the modem responds to one of them. If not then try setting up the modem again in Yast and note the location Yast sets.
I hope that this is clear enough to understand.
