Hullo y'all
I've been backing up stuff to CD for a few years with Windows, with no problem. I've also used xcdroast successfully in the past.
mkisofs -U ./elefino | cdrecord -dao speed=4 dev=0,0,0 -eject
What I get is: ---- begin cut'n'paste from xterm ---- Device seems to be: Generic mmc CD-RW. mkisofs: Symlink ./elefino/.kde/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps/kmenu.png ignored - continuing. Hi Kevin,
I'm not totally cdr fluent but the one item that stands out is that you are requesting dao but the supported modes of the burner appear to indicate that disc at once is not supported.
You might want to try tao in place of dao to test this.
Ok, I tried track-at-once, with no better result. Also, I'm a little perplexed about that, because I have exactly the same Plextor model at the office (purchased for that reason...) and I'm sure I've used dao with the Adaptec software, with no complaints, though that was WinNT. In the office, I've made copies of CDs, copied files and directories to CD, and used .iso images as source, as well. By the way, this is what I get from the scanbus option: linux:~ # cdrecord -scanbus Cdrecord 1.11a28 (i686-suse-linux) Copyright (C) 1995-2002 Jörg Schilling Linux sg driver version: 3.1.22 Using libscg version 'schily-0.6' scsibus0: 0,0,0 0) 'PLEXTOR ' 'CD-R PX-W1610A' '1.00' Removable CD-ROM 0,1,0 1) * 0,2,0 2) * 0,3,0 3) * 0,4,0 4) * 0,5,0 5) * 0,6,0 6) * 0,7,0 7) * linux:~ # Anybody see any obvious holes there? My next attempt will be Zentara's suggestion, though I'd still love to know what I'm f___ing up, here. Obviously, it's something simple and blindingly stupid... except it ain't obvious to me. I just read the man pages and it sounded like it should work. /kevin
