Hi, Some suggestions: - Can you find an .X.err file on your system? You might find some clues in that file. Lines with errors are noted with an (EE) in front. - Try to install an older version of the NVIDIA_GLX and NVIDIA_kernel. That has worked for me some times before. http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=linux_display_archive Or try to install the tar.gz packages. - Check out the Nvidia forum Someone might have had the same troubles as you. http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=14 - Try running NVchooser: ftp://download1.nvidia.com/XFree86_40/1.0-3123/NVchooser.sh Regards, Jostein On Friday 15 November 2002 21:52, Marshall Heartley wrote:
Hello,
Like others on this list, I too have been having issues with NVidia. I keep getting lockups. These occurs when a screensaver tries to activate and when playing OpenGL games like crack-attack. I want the 3D acceleration active but I feel to keep my system from being hosed, I will have to use the XFree86 driver instead. :( This really gets me upset. I have tried the following, Using NVidia's AGP instead of AGPGART, Ensuring that the BIOS does not change the interrupts on the AGP/PCI bus, and Nothing sharing the video card IRQ.
Is there any other suggestions that I can try before I have to desert this lost cause? I had 0 lockups in SuSE 8.0 and I am using 8.1. The card is a GeForce 2 MX/400.
Thanks list!
Marshall
