I don't know about ipchains, but iptables can uses ranges of ip addresses and ports. IP addresses can be abbreviated like 192.168.1.0/24 and ports can be used as ranges like this: iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 1:1024 DNAT --to-destination 192.168.1.1:1-1024 If you're running Suse 8.1 stock, then you have itpables.
