[Yes, this is my second reply to the same message. Just hang on; there's valueable information here.] Two interesting usenet posts: http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&frame=right&th=c7e512c1b381718b&seekm=20020128150717.A26340%40jagor.srce.hr#link3 From: Haavard Kvaalen (havardk@xmms.org)
Okay. Any plans to implement it for Oggs?
Yes, we have mostly working code that does this. -- Håvard Kvålen http://groups.google.com/groups?q=xmms+alsaplayer++noatun&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&selm=200210292315.15407.leo%40thewoodpecker.ca&rnum=1 From: Leo Spalteholz (leo@thewoodpecker.ca) Yeah I've been on the lookout for an xmms replacement.. It seems like xmms development has stalled for now and there are more and more annoyances with it (no equalizer for oggs, random crashes, more random crashes while playing streams, your alsa problems....). But freeamp and others just dont have the functionality and also seem to be moving very slowly and noatun is about as unstable as it gets. It appears that Ogg Vorbis files cannot be equalized, or rather, back in January of this year (check date of first post). Judging from the second post, however, equalizing Oggs is still not possible. I'll check it out myself soon... JW, what type of files are you trying to equalize? On Monday 11 November 2002 07:08, JW wrote:
Hello,
Several months ago when I first installed 8.0, I found xmms (my favorite media player) to be very buggy, so I manually upgraded (compiled) to 1.2.7
Upon doing so I discovered that the equalizer no longer worked. (There were other problems too). I had to swtich the output plugin. I think I finally setteled on aRts plugin.
Well, I have just installed 8.1, thinking that the problem would be fixed and to my dismay it is not. Using the default OSS output plugin the EQ does not work. I have also manually installed the aRts and ALSA pluging, and the EQ does not work with any of them.
Does anyone know what can be done to make the EQ work again? It 1.2.7's EQ just simply broken?
