With Mozilla, you need to create a symbolic link to the java plugin (which in my case, was located in /opt/j2sdk1.4.1_01/jre/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so) and place the symbolic link in Mozilla's plugins directory. I also added Java's bin (/opt/j2sdk1.4.1_01/bin, in my case) to my PATH statement in my .profile, and added the following four lines to .profile: JAVA_HOME=/opt/j2sdk1.4.1_01 export JAVA_HOME JDK_HOME=/opt/j2sdk1.4.1_01 export JDK_HOME But I don't know if these last changes are really necessary for Mozilla. I needed them for NetBeans, Eclipse, and some other tools, and I don't know if Mozilla used them or not. Not sure about OO. Perhaps someone else knows.
