Gnome doesn't begin (no more)

Hello, I don't know what had had to my Gnome 1.4. It was working fine (a little slow, but it used to work :), then yesterday I left it without use by a half hour it was hanging. After a long waiting I halt linux SuSE 8.0. At night, I log in as user (choosing Gnome) and it was seeming that it will work... startup screen, tips, ...and Gnome startup process stops. Why? I tried to change, in the Amibios Setup - Advanced setup, Graphic win size to 128MB (a hopeless man can make each type of things, isn't? :) Some ideas?
