How to know the current desktop manager at run time ?
First a point of vocabulary: only KDE and Gnome are desktop managers (there is also Xfce). All the other are only "window managers" (Windowmaker, E, etc). It means they are only here to decorate windows and manage them, as the name implies. They have no advance functions like a full-fledged desktop manager. The fastest way to know what you use is visual (you recognize it). There is another one, though. When you type your name and password to login, you have a session name just below the password zone. The name you see here should be the name of the window/desktop manager you will have. In SuSE the default is KDE. - -- Thibaut Cousin E-mail : cousin@in2p3.fr Web : http://clrwww.in2p3.fr -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE9yhlVv1vqsTa1E4oRAoxgAJ9/FtO8GSBGEp1QZia3h6pSecc0ggCeMZrK BHfAfpM+vC4fNoPtd3Ox7oI= =nmPW -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
