Yesterday I wrote a message to the list complaining of a lack of response to a previous message I'd posted. While at least one response to this follow-up proved helpful, another, from a Tony Alfrey, had an unwelcome ad hominem feel to it. I wrote Mr. Alfrey privately with a good natured suggestion that I'd rather not have heard from him, specifically referencing the signature with which he signs his mail. Mr. Alfrey responded to my message with one, even more critical, that suggested a desire to engage me in a kind of disputation of the criticism he'd brought to the list. I responded to Mr. Alfrey, making more than plain that his communications were unwelcome and that I would consider any more of them harrassing. That notwithstanding, Mr. Alfrey replied to me moments ago, suggesting that if I didn't want to read his e-mails, either personally or to the list, that I should filter them, which would seem to suggest that I might be hearing from him again should I post in the future. I would appreciate knowing if any other contributors here have been similarly annoyed by Mr. Alfrey. John Lowell
