Thanks for the reply. I'll attempt changing the icon and then changing back to see if that helps. Truthfully, I thought someone was going to tell me that it had something to do with superior entitlements enjoyed by root, but with what you tell me its beginning to sound like flakiness.
Maybe just a different theme or icon theme for root? Did you already update KDE to version 3.04? This fixes a lot of bugs (and introduces a few others). Please reply to the list next time John ;-) Marcel
