Now, we all remember how YaST1 would let us go to the SuSe ftp site and look and dl packages/updates, like those in the supplementary directories. And we all remember how full the list was with complaints the 8.0 no longer had this function. I have not seen any post about not being able to browse the SuSE ftp site and DL packages, and I have seen a lot of post about apt-get and synaptic. I beleive that in the present 8.1 release the ability to you Yast to browse the SuSE ftp site and dl/install packages/updates/upgrades was possible, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to do it or find any instructions on how it is done. So, am I being dumb and the answer is sitting right in front of me? Or, is it not possible to use Yast2 to dl/install from the SuSE ftp site. I do see entries to install with YOU and the "change source of installation" in YaST, and I have tried to use YOU do direct it to the SuSE ftp site but it says there's no "installation" source there. So, any word on this? TIA, Curtis
