Dear all,
After some reading in http://richjb42.freeyellow.com/proxy2_0.html and
http://www.windowsitlibrary.com/Content/269/2.html#5 I am convinced that the
only way to use a non MS client behind an MS Proxy 2.0 is by using a winsock
proxy client (equivalent to the MSPCLIENT DLL which does not exist for Lx as
far as I know), or a web proxy (which when configured to point to the the MS
Proxy 2.0 machine gives me an "Uknown authentication method" error, or
finally by enabling SOCKS proxy capability on Konqueror (or any application
that wants to go through the firewall).
The question is how do you configure SOCKS for Konqueror as a client to
another SOCKS proxy server? Could not find anythin in english (most relevant
hits I got in Google are in German and Spanish gwhich makes it very
difficult for me) except this
http://docs.kde.org/3.0/kdebase/kcontrol/socks.html which does say that
"Setting up of a SOCKS client is outside the scope of this document..." :-(
If you can think of how to configure the web proxy so I solve my problem for
the HTTP applications, that would be dandy as well!
Thank you deeply,
-john m
