Hmmm... Flash may have the same issue that Java plugins do under 8.1. The issue being that 8.1 is based on gcc 3.2, but a number of things that SuSE doesn't have source for (like Java and the Flash) are built with older compilers and have issues linking with shared libraries. - Herman Curtis Rey wrote:
Well, no matter how hard I try, changing permissions, recreating folders, moving plugins into respective users home dirs, I cannot get any media from webpages to work. No flash, no realplayer media, etc. This is quite disconcerting especially since I have not ever had this much difficulty getting these to work in prior releases. I am running 8.1. By and large 8.1 running much more smoothly and faster, automatically detects and adds hardward, etc... However, I'm at a complete loss as to why certain things, such as the pluggins don't work no. I see realplayer trying to load for a split second or two and then nothing. When a check "about pluggins" in either moz or netscape it says they're all installed and active. I have made sure that the associations match to the best of my ability but no go.
So, What gives? If one of the SuSE crew happens to read this I do believe that others on the list are having similar problems. I would like to have the content ability of my browsers, and the machine in general, working as they should.
Anything to shed some light on this frustrating situation will be happily appreciated.
TIA, Curtis
