Sorry, Maura, but Have to disagree with you here. The fact that you
have Adobe distiller running on Windows does make Windows better than
linux. I am sure you can get Adobe Distiller for Linux too, as the
OpenOffice Print Admin have a configurration option for it to print to
PDF.
But, on Linux, you don't need Adobe Distiller, as OpenOffice (And I am
sure StarOffice also) comes with a PDF converter included. You just
need to set it up in the OpenOffice Print Admin.
I have never, ever, created a PDF document in all the time that I used
Windows, but soon after I started to use Linux, I had the capability to
create PDF documents.
I think the "Office" features on Windows are just more visible, because
it it marketed aggressively to make money.
THe Open Source tools are not marketed.
