Are you sure the ftp_nat_masq module is loaded in the masking firewall box? I bet the FTP's time out -- it is because of the connection failing. The COMMAND link is fine, but the data port can not be opened without all the correct modules loaded into the masq-ing firewall... ciao Kat On Sat, 2002-10-12 at 10:49, Marshall Heartley wrote:
Hello,
I wrote a few days ago to see if anyone can tell me how to fix my issue with SuSE. I cannot get updates from YOU while I am masqueraded in my network. I looked on SuSE's web site and saw that they had updated but my client machines still fail to get the updates! Why! I cannot plug in the machines individually and pulling the updates to the server and then to the network is inpractical! I did not have this issue with previous versions. But now I have it. I am (for now) using SuSE personal firewall to help protect the network. It doesn't matter if I have it on or off, I still cannot update the clients behind the masqueraded box! All machines are SuSE 8.1. The error occurs after I set what server that I want to get the updates from and when I click next, it tells me that it could not initialize the update and if it continues to try another server! I tried every d*** one of them! What can fix this? Also the rpm version of the applications manual is missing. Why?
