You should be safe. The only files I have in / are the symbolic links to /media/cdrom and /media/floppy. They have probably been deleted, but you can easily recreate them with ln -s /media/cdrom /cdrom ln -s /media/floppy /floppy Nothing important has been removed by the command you typed (assuming the above is exactly what you typed) //Anders
