If the drivers and the GLX are installed , try as root 'switch2nvidia_GLX'
and see if that makes a difference, but 3Ddiag should prompt you with what
is required.
Check also your XF86config file make sure in the device section that
driver="Nvidia" NOT "nv" change if necessary , also check that Load GLX is
uncommented ( remove the '#' from infront)
Usually if the drivers are installed you get the Nvidia splash screen just
before the login, although not always as it can be switched off, but
everytime I have installed the drivers it has .

Definitely the nVidia drivers but I will check the others when I get home tonight.
