I just found out my application works ! And it seems I misread the manual a bit. I installed an MGE Evolution UPS, and installed the "client"-software on the Linux box. The "agent" (the software that talks directly to the UPS) needs to be a non-Linux OS :-(, and this sends traps via SNMP. The client can be a Linux-box. This morning I tested the UPS by unplugging the powercable of the UPS, and Linux showed a message that the power failed. I don't know how the "deamon" started, but since I rebooted Linux since the installation I think there must be a startup script somewhere. Christopher Mahmood wrote:

How do you check if the SNMP-agent is installed and running ?
Do you mean an extension you've added through agentx or just the snmp daemon?
