Complicated Lilo setup

I used to use LILO, but with one of my machines it does not work. I need to boot from the CD, and say INSTALL, than it pops up if I want to boot the already installed system. That works. Lilo directly I cannot get to work.

Drives:
ronald:/home/ronald # fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 2231 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 1 1044 8385898+ 7 HPFS/NTFS

Disk /dev/hdc: 16 heads, 63 sectors, 116336 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 1008 * 512 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hdc1 1 2038 1027120+ 82 Linux swap
/dev/hdc2 * 2039 116336 57606192 83 Linux

To make it more complicated: The ATAPI CDROM is the first primary
The SCSI CDWRITER is a SCSI
SCSI is on board as well IDE

Now, I boot with the SCSI CDwriter SuSE Linux and say after booting, boot installed system

I tried to swap around in /etc/lilo.conf

disk = /dev/hdc
bios = 0x80
disk = /dev/sda
bios = 0x81

boot = /dev/hdc

but with no success.

What I want:

1. Windows 2000 server is on the first (hot swapable) hard disk
2. Linux is on the IDE drive.

MOST of the time I need just Linux, ....

How can I setup it so, that:
1. with the SCSI (hot swapable) Windows 2000 hard disk I can choose Windows or Linux
2. without the SCSI (hot swapable) Windows 2000 hard disk I still can boot Linux.
(all other drives ATAPI CDrom and SCSI CDwriter remains connected)

Thanks!

bye

Ronald
