Java *is* working, so your java apps will work, as long as you don't
tie in code written in C++ (via JNI) and compiled by gcc 3.2. This is
because both Sun Java and IBM Java have been compiled with older (i.e.
2.95.X and earlier) versions of gcc.

I can confirm that 1.3 and 1.4 do run under SuSE Linux 8.1.
