Replying to my own message, I've got a bit farther. Can anyone offer advice on how to get to the goal? On Saturday 05 October 2002 6:02 pm, Kevin Donnelly wrote:
Anyway, nothing daunted, i tried editing XF86Config directly, based on a few other posts on the list. The relevant sections ended up as follows:
Since sax2 fell over when I tried to run it on my souped up 3D-enabled Voodoo 3 (look upon its framerate and weep, you nVidia people - not), I did a bit more digging around and came up with sax2 -F. So I did went to su via sux (you need to do that since su does not allow you to run an XServer app, and this is one of those), and ran sax2 -F mouse. Vis this, I was able to add sections for the Graphire to the XF86Config file, which did not complain when I restarted the X server. The sections were pretty much as in my first post, but with the change that the "Device" Option was /dev/input/event0 instead of /dev/input/mice. Still no go, though. So, based on this page - http://gug.sunsite.dk/tutorials/ayoros1/ - I added Load "xf86Wacom" to the Modules section, since xf86Wacom.so was indeed in /usr/X11R6/lib/modules. For good measure, I also added InputDevice "Mouse[5]" "" InputDevice "Mouse[7]" "" to the ServerLayout section. I restarted X again, but still no go. Grrr! I must be not doing something obvious - can anyone help ... please? Thanks Kevin
