Here is my guess: the file association is not done quite right. Here is one way to do that: open a konqueror, go to where your file is, right click on the file and choose "Edit File Type". So I dled mplayer and compiled it in 8.1 which got the famous GCC 3. And, I can start the movie with 'mplayer <filename>' on the commandline. So far, so good!
In KDE konqueror 'file associations', I also set mplayer as the first choice for wmv files. And here it comes: I cannot start the file by clicking it in konqueror, nor via the 'K*' menu. Any ideas about that ??
