Try opening a terminal, su for root access, then type switch2nvidia_glx. Go out of X and then back in. Also, you did not say what resolution you were running. Gears is very dependent on resolution. I get about 1400 fps in the default window at 1600X1200 and about 90 fps full screen 1600X1200 on a Geforce2 Go.

Hi
Ive just invested in Suse 8.1 and have installed and set everything up fine. However when I try to download the nvidia drivers with YOU i an error, only on the Nvidia GLX and kernel files all the other updates came down fine.Is this a problem at my end or Suse's?
I also tried installing the rpms which i had download from the nvidia site for Suse 8.1 and although 3Ddiag confirmed everything was installed, I still got poor results from 'gears' .Also even though it says everything is installed I cannot enable 3d in yast because it says they need to be downloaded and installed by yast.Ive had a look at th XF86config file and the driver has been changed to 'Nvidia' and the load GLx is fine. The results i get from
gears is only at maximum 360 fps on a geforce 4.
If anybody else is having problems I fthey could let me know or am I doing anything wrong I would be grateful.
