hey thanks. Ive actually been using apt a lot earlier on my friends debian machine. With Debian I found many dependency problems though and often we would get a non-functioning system. Especially when choosing between stable-testing-unstable. Often tempting packages kde3 eg are not in the stable versions and the result of trying to get missing screensavers or something costed hours in dependency hell.
Yast 2 Online Update:
Since this was a fresh install i reinstalled suse 8.0 and then immediately did an online update in the hopes its a yast bug somewhere. well it works now anyway.
