I have been keenly following the numerous suggestions re. improving font display... anti-aliasing, tt-fonts,, Mozilla "unix.js" trick etc. Indeed, My Thanks! :-) As an LCD user (Philips 150S 15") I have rather viewed (sic) anti-aliasing as a mixed blessing. Perhaps being older(!), I'm better at handling "jaggies" than "blurredness" ? <G>. Eventually I had come round to trying the xftconfig "trick". Simply create a file called .xftconfig under $HOME containing the single line: match edit rgba = rgb ... (or bgr, or...) as per the SuSE (8.0 En_UK) documentation. The file is sourced via: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11.XftConfig, so it's quick 'n' easy to see the before and after effect with minimal purturbation to the setup. Subjectively, for my setup it makes one HECK of a (positive :-) difference. The improvement is mostly (imo) evident in Kmail - The first thing I read most mornings, and of course Konqueror. For a coherent explanation see: http://grc.com/ctwhat.htm (Checkout "diamonds" graphic 1/2 way down :-) Since I'd've LIKED it to be applied to Mozilla, I'm a little disapointed that it isn't, but will content myself with my TT Fonts. Looks like the boys at Mozilla are (justifiably :-) sceptical about turning this into a permanent feature, but I observe "experimental" RPM's dotted about the internet for "Red Hat". For interest: Anyone trying this with Mozilla/SuSE? :-) Chris
