I have a Philps USB webcam, working all right, except for one problem: the sound module (usb audio) conflicts with my soundcard. The solution I found on a web search is to rmmod audio.
Except that I get the message: > rmmod: audio: Device or resource busy
Has anyone got a solution?
Perhaps. Check your interrupts for a conflict (cat /proc/interrupts). If you see the USB and audio controller on the same line separated with a comma, it means that they're sharing an interrupt. And while in theory that shouldn't be a problem, it seems to be one as often as not. For a solution, try to move your audio card to a different slot, or if you BIOS supports it, assign an interrupt manually to the devices. If both devices are built into the motherboard, you may have to do what I did -- disable the onboard audio and purchase a new sound card. Good luck, -jrh
