Perhaps. Check your interrupts for a conflict (cat /proc/interrupts). If
you see the USB and audio controller on the same line separated with a
comma, it means that they're sharing an interrupt. And while in theory that
shouldn't be a problem, it seems to be one as often as not. For a solution,
try to move your audio card to a different slot, or if you BIOS supports it,
assign an interrupt manually to the devices.

If both devices are built into the motherboard, you may have to do what I
did -- disable the onboard audio and purchase a new sound card.
