Hi all Seduced by the list of cameras in Kcontrol->Peripherals-Digital camera, on my SuSE8, and a pretty good price, I went and got me a Logitech Clicksmart 310. Sadly I have been unable to get it recognized :( Kcontrol gives a frustratingly terse "couldn't initialize camera", and clicking 'details' just gives "bad parameter". Working down through the system: Xconsole states: Sep 3 07:21:30 a13-8 kernel: usb-uhci.c: Detected 2 ports Sep 3 07:21:30 a13-8 kernel: usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x46d/0x900) is not claimed by any active driver. Setting HOTPLUG_DEBUG=verbose in /etc/sysconfig/hotplug gives in /var/log/messages (full quote, see bottom of message) among other, these rather depressing news: Sep 3 07:21:27 a13-8 /etc/hotplug/usb.agent[545]: ... no modules for USB product 46d/900/90 Sep 3 08:38:16 a13-8 /etc/hotplug/usb.agent[1674]: ... no drivers for USB product 46d/900/90 loaded? Sep 3 08:39:17 a13-8 /etc/hotplug/usb.agent[1703]: ... no modules for USB product 46d/900/90 though: a13-8:/etc/hotplug # lsmod | grep usb usb-uhci 20996 0 (unused) usbcore 55136 1 [usb-uhci] http://www.linux-usb.org/ ->search for logitech: http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/search_res.php?PHPSESSID=dc22f1f80094ff1ee0c4f10ec50a8e75&pattern=logitech The only 'clicksmart' that's listed is the 510, which doesn't have any drivers for it... Logitech state that they're 'reviewing linux drivers, but don't support linux at present'... SDB *does* have something on 'USB-trouble on 8.0' but that page talks about errors that I *don't* get, not about the ones I *do*. The only instances of idVendor 46d in /etc/hotplug/*map are: usb.distmap:iforce 0x0003 0x046d 0xc281 0x0000 0x0000 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00000000 usb.handmap:joydev 0x0003 0x046d 0xc207 0x0000 0x0000 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00000000 ...so it looks like I got myself a piece of junk :( The mobo is an Abit KG7-lite, the kernel is the stock suse 2.4.18-4GB, I've never messed with compiling kernel/modules on this system, and I'm completely illiterate WRT USB at all. So the question is: Does someone know if this can be made to work? Can I get modules, to compile from somewhere? Is it just because I can't figure out how to configure the USB subsystem? And what's this about 'disk change on device sr(11,0)'? I'd take it back to the store right away, but for the fact that it's somewhat far away. I'm kicking myself for not checking out the support *before* buying, but I'm wondering why Kcontrol would list a device that's not supported in Linux, in the first place?
