I'm attempting to get my internal wireless card in my IBM Thinkpad R30 working correctly. The card was dectected by YaST and comes up as
"Harris
Semiconductor". YaST configures the card as eth1.
Good, that means cardmanager is working. Next grab the file wireless_tools.25.tar.gz.
wget http://pcmcia-cs.sourceforge.net/ftp/contrib/wireless_tools.25.tar.gz and install the tools.
I had already installed the wireless-tools package from the SuSE 8.0 CD's. Is this good enough?
If, however, I try to "ifconfig eth1 up", I get the following error message:
Don't fret there is hope !
I added this to /etc/pcmcia/config to get my SpeedStream PCMCIA card to work.
card "SpeedStream Wireless PCMCIA" manfid 0x02ac, 0x0002 bind "orinoco_cs"
Was I supposed to add this?
So as root with PCMCIA card in run
cardctl -config
and then toos the ouuput back to the list ..OK ?
Remember that this is an internal card--it's always in. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Here's the output: # cardctl config Socket 0: not configured Thanks a lot for your help. Again, just let me know if you need more information or if I need to install the wireless-tools again. --Branton Boehm _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com
