One option for you is to use -X when you ssh. Then you can run programs on 
your office machine and get the graphical displays on your home machine. This 
won't run fast by any means, although I was able to ssh into my home machine 
from work and run xawtv remotely :) You can get work done but you'll probably 
need patience.
