Hi there,
I have recently built a PC based around ASUSS A7V333 and Athlon 1800+, running SuSE 8.0. All seems to work fine. No probs with overheating. But I have fitted two case blowers ....
Kind regards,
Simon

Hello.
This should answer some of your questions. In fact, one of my posts on this
matter is quoted in full near the bottom of the page. It looks like the
issue was never satisfactorily resolved.

I remember quite a lot of discussionalone
some time ago on this list about the fact that Asus turned of the commands
to help keep Athlons cool when they weren't being heavily used. This
turned many people off the Asus brand. However, I don't know what the
current Asus boards behave like in this respect.
I did read a review on the ASUS A7V333 that said that the fan was slowed
down
under low CPU load to reduce noise but it made no mention of any problems
with high temps becuase of this. Can you remember when this discussion was
so
that I can read through it in the archive?
