Apt4rpm works wonderfully over firewall/proxy
Here's how.
At your bash console do this:
Bash# export http_proxy=(address-of-proxy:port)
Bash# export ftp_proxy=(address-of-proxy:port)
At this time I do not think apt4rpm supports placing the proxy in
apt.conf, cause this is normally where it would go.
But both apt and fou4s will work at the cli with the exports like this.
You have to do it each time you get to login to cli or you can place the
export perm in your bash.rc ( I think)

I think SuSE 8.0 is pretty good, certainly I feel the best of the major
(more complete) distro's but more to the point it's the only one that
seems
to support my onboard raid.
No perfect distro? Probably arguable that there's no perfect OS isn't
it?

That brings up a question ... will we get charged for a new update? Hmmm
... thinking about that we probably will so do you think SuSE will give
us
a reduction on having bought 8.0?

Good idea :-)
I would also like them to spend some time getting YaSt2 to work via
proxy's
of various sorts as I remain unable to update my installation and no one
is
able to explain in simple enough terms (I'm a brain damaged Windows
techie
<G>) to make it or apt4rpm or fou4s work over proxy (though to be fair
it
may have something to do with my network config).
Anyway, to cut the crap, I like SuSE, I've seen better in some respects
(usually speed) but SuSE is a good all rounder.
