* Peter B Van Campen (peterb924@ameritech.net) [020710 20:05]: ::Fellow Travelers, :: ::Tonight I saw the situation someone here wrote about in the last few days. A ::couple KDEINIT tasks spining away at 40% cpu while doing nothing usefull. I ::had used Konqi to go to /proc/bus/usb and I clicked and selected "Open ::With...", then chose KEDIT. KEDIT opened and hung w/o loading any text. This ::happened twice and I could not close either KEDIT win; either by clicking the ::'X' or using the task bar "Close All" chioce for the KEDIT tasks. :: ::When I went to TOP I saw the 2 KDINITs spinning away at 40% cpu. After some ::time nothing changed so I did "kill {pid} for each and that seemed to restore ::normal (and calm) operation. As I said in an email to the SuSE-KDE list where these issues often come up. :) KDE fixed the runaway kdeinit process problem in 3.0.1 and took the fix even further in 3.0.2. Please look in the supplementry directory on the FTP server for the complete 3.0.2 pkg assortment. :) -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- Tell me what you believe..I tell you what you should see. -DP --=====-----=====--
