Yes, it's called SSH (Secure Shell). It replaces telnet among other things. It need to be installed on both host (server and client). It's what you want. --rickey
If configured with DSA options and authenticating hosts would you say ssh is secure enough that you would leave the ssh port open to the Internet? I need a simple way to telnet/X/uucp to a box on the net and was looking at FreeS/Wan, but could not get FeeeS/Wan properly configured. ssh seems much easier to work with for this use.
Greg Engel Greg, I would not leave it open to the whole world unless you're providing a service to the whole world. Thats my opinion, however.
