If you are using it as a Samba server, the latest couple versions of Samba have had an extension for this.
I think it was experimental in 2.2.4. I assume it is more stable in 2.2.5.
Of course only files deleted via Samba are protected via this solution.
BTW: It is an optional Samba extension, so you have to install it.
