Hello, everyone. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that KDM was no longer running on a server in the office. It is an HP Netserver LH3/2xPII-450/1GB RAM/Plenty-o-drive space. KDM showed up in the process list, but all I would get on Screen F7 was a blinking white cursor in the top left hand corner; no GUI login. After some digging around, I found that the /var/log/kdm.log file was 2GB (yes, gigabytes) in size. This seemed a little large to me, so I deleted it. Once this file was cleared, kdm launched as normal. Great, says I, it's fixed. However, the kdm.log file immediately grew to around 300K in size. When I checked it out, it was full of hundreds of lines beginning with minl and moutl. I haven't seen this on any of our other machines, but it seems that every time KDM starts on this box, the log file grows by a large amount. So, does anyone know what this problem might be indicative of ? I don't relish the idea of having to keep an eye on the kdm.log file and clearing it out every few weeks just to keep the service from bombing out. By the way, this is SuSE 8 with a bunch of YOUed patches and it was doing this with both KDE 3.0 and 3.0.1. Thanks, Stuart.
