The problem is that IT people responsible for network
security detect possible problems according to SW version numbers. Apache-1.3.20-66 (SuSE 7.3) identifies itself as 1.3.20 which, they think, contains a security hole. For them, an OK version is e.g. 1.3.26.
I can't answer your real question, but last Friday all versions of Apache older than and including 1.3.24 were identified as having a security hole. In the 2.0 series it is older than and including 2.0.36. Real world exploits have been found that target Linux. http://bvlive01.iss.net/issEn/delivery/xforce/alertdetail.jsp?oid=20524 I have no idea if SuSE has a fix for this or not yet.
