Readers, (! Suse helpteam / developers!) Can anyone help with answering the following questions: Is there a partition size limit? What is the limit with Reiser? What is the limit with softraid5? Will Suse 8.0 solve my problem? My problem; i have 6 WD1000BB (93,1GB) in a softraid5 giving 465,8GB with Reiser. It was a struggle to get it formatted, but finally it worked, though i don't know how, somehow, with trying again and again, i got past all the error messages and failures. It has worked flawlessly since January, steadily filling it up. Now i am over 100GB (96?) i am getting the message md0 failed at boot time. (possibly i got this message earlier but i didn't notice before, although there has been a time i didn't get this message, while really using md0) reiserfsck says all is OK, everything seems to work, but i have a lot to lose :-} In an attempt to recreate the raid (saving the 100GB+ elsewhere) i tried to format a 111,75GB ATA133 drive (120GB they claim) This completely failed. No way to get it done. Yast sees the drive as a 1,8TB !!! drive. When trying to create a partition the size of the WD1000BB on it, by using the same number of cylinders, it thinks the requested partition is 1,4TB. This procedure with a 40GB disk to expand the raid from 4 to 6 disks worked with only minor problems in setting up the new raid array. I am using : Asus A7V Thunderbird 900 768MB PC133 4 WD1000BB on onboard promise ATA100 controller 2 WD1000BB on secondary IDE (ATA66) primary master: 6GB boot disk primary slave: 52X CDROM -or- temp-disk AGP VGA 2x ethernet tokenring SCSI for CD/RW (and small HD..., the 8/9th...) SB128 Suse7.3, standard install from the CD's. thanks for any responses, Eric de Haan ps. this is a private system ps2. even after getting the unmount message at shutdown, at boot i always get <not cleanly unmounted> on /. Why?
