OK, I understand..but when I run xmms it cant locate any files on the cd..and if I run Kscd it seems to play the cd but no sound comes out..and sound is activated since I get sound when kde starts...frankly, I am very confused :)
For xmms: go to options->preferences. Click on "CD Audio Player" and click configure. Make sure the correct device is entered, and note the directory listed there (or enter another directory. /media/cdrom is the common choice in SuSE). Then, when you go to the playlist to add files, you should see the cd audio tracks when you select the directory you have in the preferences. For CD sound in general: start the mixer (kmix, for instance) and make sure the cd audio input isn't muted, and that it's set to a reasonable level. //Anders -- `When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, `it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less.'
