I am looking for some software to run on my Linux machine to filter porn sites, or other not for children sites. I would like some kind of "key word" filtering along with site blocking. Does any one know of any such software?
Have a look at squidguard. It comes with a filtering system based on hostnames and is on the 8.0 disks. It's not the easiest thing to set up, but there are basic instructions. Keyword filtering is harder to get right. The only suggestion I have is to write your own perl script as and use it as a squid redirector. The problem with keywords is that they tend to exclude things you didn't want to exclude: even big companies who ought to know better make mistakes on this kind of issue as the following article reveals: http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/35/25739.html JDL
